How it started

Hello, my name's Thomas. I live in the UK but have family in California, and I first tried Takis at LAX on one of those trips, about ten years ago now. Fuego, obviously. I was surprised by how hot they were (my spice tolerance isn't the best), but I was hooked anyway – the rolled shape, the lime, a heat that keeps building instead of fading out. Nothing back home came close.

When Takis eventually started appearing on UK shelves, the problem was finding them. I got sick of paying over £10 at American candy shops when the exact same bag was under £2 at a Farmfoods twenty minutes away – I just didn't know it. There was no easy way to check which supermarkets carried them, which were reliably stocked, or where the cheapest bag near you was.

What is Takis Near Me?

I wanted an excuse to learn web development, and building something I'd actually use myself felt like the right way to do it. The store locator pulls live data from OpenStreetMap so results stay current, rather than going stale like a hand-maintained list would. The chains we list (Aldi, Co-op, Farmfoods, Morrisons, and Iceland) come from our own research, and ranges vary by branch. We've also spotted Takis in some Nisa Local stores, which are independently owned, so their range varies even more.

The goal is to help you find a bag near you, at a decent price, without the faff.

Who runs it

Just me at the moment. I have no connection to Grupo Bimbo, Barcel USA, or Barcel Snacks UK Limited; this is purely an independent fan site.

How the search works

Type in a UK postcode or town and the tool looks it up using Nominatim, then checks Overpass API for nearby Takis stockists within your chosen radius – some known stockists, others just worth a look. Everything gets sorted by distance and dropped onto a map. No account needed, and we don't transmit or persist your search beyond the current page load – it just passes through to Nominatim and Overpass and back.
