Privacy policy

Last updated: 2 July 2026. This policy explains what data is collected when you use this site and how it's handled.

Who we are

This site, takisnearme.co.uk, is an independent UK fan site. The data controller is the sole trader operating this site from England. We are not affiliated with Grupo Bimbo, Barcel USA, or Barcel Snacks UK Limited.

What data we collect

  • Contact form submissions. If you use the contact form, we collect the store name, store location (optional), a description of your correction, and – if you choose to provide it – your email address. This data is transmitted through our hosting provider (Vercel, Inc.) and forwarded to us via our email delivery provider (Resend, Inc.). We don't store it in a separate database; it resides in our email inbox and is deleted when no longer needed, typically within 12 months. The lawful basis for this processing is consent – you freely chose to submit the form. Where you supply an email address, we use it solely to reply to your correction report.
  • Hosting and server data. Every page request is handled by Vercel, Inc., our hosting provider. Vercel may process your IP address, browser type, and request metadata in server logs. We don't access these logs directly; they are governed by Vercel's Privacy Policy. Vercel acts as a data processor on our behalf.
  • Search queries. When you use the postcode search, your query is sent to our server-side proxy endpoints, which forward it to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim and Overpass API services on your behalf. We do this because both services require a valid application identifier rather than a generic browser or script user agent. Your IP address isn't sent to Nominatim or Overpass directly – only to our hosting provider, as described above. We don't log or store search queries ourselves; each request is forwarded and returned without being saved.
  • Nothing else. We run no server-side analytics, operate no user accounts, and set no tracking or advertising cookies of our own. This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Cookies and local storage

This site sets no cookies of its own. We use browser local storage – not a cookie – to remember that you've seen the cookie notice. This data stays on your device and is never transmitted to us or any third party.

Third-party services listed below may set their own cookies subject to their own policies. In particular, OpenStreetMap tile servers may set cookies or log your IP address when the map loads after a search. We have no control over this.

Because we don't use cookies for analytics, advertising, or tracking, there's nothing non-essential to opt out of – the cookie notice is a simple acknowledgement rather than a consent choice.

Third-party services

  • Vercel, Inc. – our hosting provider. Processes request data (including IP addresses) to deliver this site. Vercel is based in the United States; international transfers are governed by Standard Contractual Clauses as described in their privacy policy. See Vercel's Privacy Policy.
  • Resend, Inc. – our email delivery provider. Processes contact form submissions on our behalf in order to deliver them to our inbox. Resend is based in the United States; international transfers are governed by Standard Contractual Clauses as described in their privacy policy. See Resend's Privacy Policy.
  • OpenStreetMap / Nominatim / Overpass API – postcode geocoding, store search, and map tiles. Geocoding and store search requests are proxied through our server, so your IP address isn't shared with Nominatim or Overpass directly. Map tiles load straight from OpenStreetMap's tile servers, so your IP address is visible to them when the map loads. See the OSM Foundation Privacy Policy.
  • Google Favicon API – retailer and sponsor logos are loaded from www.google.com/s2/favicons. Your browser contacts Google's servers when these images load. See Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Cloudflare, Inc. (Turnstile) – the contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to verify submissions aren't automated. Cloudflare may process your IP address and browser data as part of that check. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

Affiliate and sponsored links

Some links on this site are affiliate links, clearly marked where used. If you click one and make a purchase, we may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. Clicking an affiliate link does not cause us to share your personal data with the retailer beyond what your browser sends when visiting any website. Once you arrive on a retailer's site, that retailer's own privacy policy and tracking technologies – including affiliate tracking cookies – apply. Affiliate relationships do not influence which stockists appear in search results.

Your rights under UK GDPR

As the controller of contact form data, we are obliged to honour the following rights where applicable.

  • Right of access (Art. 15) – request a copy of personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification (Art. 16) – request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Right to erasure (Art. 17) – request deletion of your data where there is no overriding legitimate reason to retain it.
  • Right to restrict processing (Art. 18) – request that we limit how we use your data in certain circumstances.
  • Right to data portability (Art. 20) – receive your data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
  • Right to object (Art. 21) – object to processing carried out on the basis of legitimate interests.
  • Right to withdraw consent – where processing is based on consent (e.g. contact form submission), you may withdraw at any time by contacting us. This does not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before withdrawal.

For data held by third-party services listed above, please contact those services directly. You also have the right to lodge a complaint at any time with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK supervisory authority for data protection.
